Make any app quieter than your phone's minimum. A floating fine volume dial.
About this app
Sometimes the lowest volume setting is still too loud. The first notch above mute can be too much for a quiet room, a sleeping baby, or a sensitive pair of headphones. Android does not let you go lower. Granular Volume does.
Granular Volume adds the volume levels your phone leaves out. It places a small floating dial over any app, so you can fine tune the output below the hardware minimum, down to a whisper, and back again. One tap, always within reach.
QUIETER THAN YOUR PHONE ALLOWS Most volume apps only make things louder. Granular Volume goes the other way. It inserts fine attenuation steps beneath the lowest hardware step, for the moments when even the minimum is too much.
MADE FOR QUIET MOMENTS - White noise or lullabies for a sleeping baby, kept barely audible - A podcast or audiobook to fall asleep to, without waking the person beside you - Sensitive IEMs and bone conduction headphones, where even a few percent is too strong - A library, a quiet office, meditation, or late night reading
A FLOATING DIAL, ALWAYS IN REACH The control floats above whatever you are doing. Drag it anywhere on screen, tuck it to an edge when you are done, or close it with a single tap. Your position is remembered next time.
IT TOUCHES NOTHING ELSE Granular Volume does not take over your volume buttons and does not replace your system volume panel. It sits quietly on top as an overlay, so it stays stable and works alongside your music, your calls, and your other apps.
SIMPLE BY DESIGN No equalizer maze. No presets to manage. No account to create. One dial that does one thing well.
FREE, PRIVATE, OPEN No ads. No tracking. Nothing collected. Granular Volume is open source under the GPL-3.0 license.
PERMISSIONS, EXPLAINED - Display over other apps, so the dial can float above your apps - Modify audio settings, to apply the volume attenuation - Run a foreground service, to keep the control reliable while you listen - Start on boot, so it is ready when you need it
If the lowest setting has ever been too loud, this is the volume you were missing.

How to install this safely
How to verify the file you downloaded
Before you install anything, confirm the file is the one described here. On a computer, run shasum -a 256 your-download.apk (macOS or Linux) or certutil -hashfile your-download.apk SHA256 (Windows), then compare the output character-for-character with the SHA-256 on this page. If a single character differs, the file is not the build we recorded — delete it.
What the signing certificate proves
Every Android app is signed with a private key that only its developer holds. The fingerprint on this page is a hash of the matching public certificate, and it proves continuity rather than identity: it tells you a build came from whoever signed the earlier ones. Android enforces this at install time — if a package claiming to be granularvolume.com is signed with a different key, the system will refuse to install it over your existing copy. A fingerprint that changes between releases is worth pausing on, because a repackaged app that has been modified by someone else cannot keep the original signature.
How to roll back to an earlier version
No earlier build is on record for Granular Volume: Quiet Dial, so there is nothing to roll back to yet. When a second version is published, this section will explain how to move between them safely.
Why we list sources instead of hosting everything
The official store channel is almost always the right choice: it updates automatically and carries the publisher's own distribution guarantees. A direct APK is useful when a device has no store access, when a rollout has not reached your region, or when you need a specific version — and only when the publisher has authorized that copy. APKBrowse does not list pirated, cracked, or unauthorized rebuilds of Granular Volume: Quiet Dial, and a listing is removed when the evidence for it stops holding up.
