Education apps that keep working offline
"Offline" is one of the least reliable words on an app listing. It can mean the app caches what you last opened, or that it downloads a full dataset in advance, or that it queues your changes and syncs them later — or it can mean the developer tested it on a plane once and the screen did not crash. The education apps collected here are the ones where offline behaviour is a designed feature rather than a side effect, and where we can point at what specifically survives the connection dropping.
The distinction matters most at the moment you cannot fix it. An app that needs a handshake to unlock content you already downloaded is fine on your sofa and useless on a train, in a basement, or in a country where your roaming did not activate. Before you rely on one, test it the honest way: put the device in airplane mode and try to do the thing you will actually need to do. If it works, you know. If it shows a spinner, better to find out now.

Whatever the app needs offline is downloaded deliberately and visibly, with a size shown up front. An app that silently caches whatever you happened to open last is not the same thing as one that lets you download a region, a library, or a workspace on purpose.

Edits made offline are held locally and synced when the connection returns, with a visible state for anything pending. The failure we screen for is the app that accepts input, loses it on reconnect, and never tells you.
