Slate Scholar is a study app designed around intermittent connectivity. Courses download as complete packages — readings, exercises, and spaced-repetition decks — and everything after that runs locally, including scheduling and scoring. Progress syncs when you reconnect, and if you never reconnect, the app keeps working indefinitely. It is built for students on metered or unreliable connections, people studying during commutes, and anyone who has lost work because an app assumed the network was always there. It is not a course marketplace: Quillstone publishes open-licensed material and the app can import decks from standard formats, but there is no store attached. Tablet layouts get a two-pane reader that keeps the exercise visible alongside the text.

Uninstall 4.5.0 and install 4.2.0, which is possible because the signing key has not changed. Your decks will not open, though: 4.5.0 upgrades the deck format on first launch and 4.2.0 cannot read the newer format, so export first if the data matters.

How to verify the file you downloaded
Before you install anything, confirm the file is the one described here. What the signing certificate proves
Every Android app is signed with a private key that only its developer holds. The fingerprint on this page is a hash of the matching public certificate, and it proves continuity rather than identity: it tells you a build came from whoever signed the earlier ones. Android enforces this at install time — if a package claiming to be com.quillstone.slatescholar is signed with a different key, the system will refuse to install it over your existing copy. A fingerprint that changes between releases is worth pausing on, because a repackaged app that has been modified by someone else cannot keep the original signature.
How to roll back to an earlier version
If the current release misbehaves, 4.2.0 is the last build before it.
