Tidepool Echo plays music you already have. It scans local storage and network shares, reads embedded tags properly, and handles gapless playback and replay gain without a settings archaeology expedition. The library index is built incrementally, so adding an album does not trigger a full rescan — a detail that matters if your collection runs to tens of thousands of files. There is no streaming catalog, no recommendation engine, and no account.

It is aimed at people with a local collection: anyone who buys files, rips discs, or archives live recordings. If your music lives in a streaming service, this app has nothing for you. The tablet layout adds a browsing view built for large libraries, and Android Auto projection works for local files.

Tidepool Collective sells the app as a one-time purchase and distributes through Google Play and the Amazon Appstore. The collective has not completed APKBrowse publisher verification, so this listing is maintained from public release announcements and checked against the checksums the collective publishes rather than an attestation given directly to us. That distinction is why you will see a New Uploader label here — it is a statement about what we have confirmed, not a judgment about the developer. Before installing, the thing to check is storage access. Version 2.6.0 targets Android 15 and uses the scoped media permissions, which means it reads audio files but cannot see arbitrary folders — if your collection lives outside the standard media directories you will need to add it as a document tree, and the first-run flow is not obvious about this. The app needs Android 8.0 or newer. Version 2.4.1 used the older broad storage permission and is the reason some users delay updating; it is still available, still signed with the same key, and no longer receives fixes.
